Massage therapy consists of hands on treatment involving moving muscles, soft tissues, and joints of the body to promote relaxation, relieve tension and alleviate pain. This therapy can improve circulation, reduce stress, enhance flexibility and aid the recovery of old injuries often used as a complimentary therapy alongside conventional medical treatments.

Somatic Body Work may include massage, therapeutic touch and somatic releasing during individual and group therapy sessions.

Energy work includes an array of approaches including Reiki, Healing Touch, Polarity Therapy, Meditation, Chakra balancing work etc from the perspective that a non-physical energy (sometimes referred to as a biofield) can be channeled, balanced, or released for overall well-being.

Jaime Adams is a body-centered Psychotherapist. Her therapeutic approach is from a Somatic touch lens. Jaime has worked and studied in the helping field for nine years. She started her journey as a touch therapist in British Columbia at a treatment center in the Shuswap. As a Somatic- informed therapist, Jaime has a nurture-by-nature approach to therapy and believes clients can integrate their physical bodies into the therapy process which can heal both mind and body. Over the years, Jaime has continued to add to her education as a certified Death Doula, Addiction Counsellor, Professional Counsellor, qualified life coach, Shadow integration therapy, PolyVagal theory, Holistic Wellness Counsellor. Over the past few years, she has become interested in exploring psychedelic therapy from a somatic therapist lens.

Jaime also works part-time as a disability service worker, working with nonverbal adults and their families. Her somatic approach aids her while working closely with her non-verbal clients through co-regulation by tapping into their somatic wisdom to support and understand them better. Jaime believes paying close attention to what our bodies tell us can help us understand our whole selves.

As a somatic-informed therapist, Jaime aims to provide psychoeducation that incorporates body-oriented modalities such as breathwork, meditation, inventory of the nervous system (vagal toning) and mind-body assessment experiences into her sessions.

Somatic therapy techniques include:

Calling upon emotional resources (Vagal toning assessment)

Grounding

Encouraging detailed descriptions

Movement, including sensorimotor expression

Learning tools to calm oneself (Vagal toning/Rocking )

Alternating focus between something stressful and something not stressful to help release tension
